Tesco in Truro, Cornwall - bad globe lighting

Picture Added on 21 February 2006.

They've got the same type of lights at the Somerfield supermarket in Kirkwall. Pretty bad, except that much of the time their glow is lost in the enormous glare of badly aimed floodlighting at a nearby sports field.

This kind of lighting is also at the Morrisons supermarket site at Longrock, near Penzance. A satellite view of Penzance/Mounts Bay shows this area as almost as bright as London.

Thanks for this. There are several stores groups who should be chivvied to re-design their external lighting. After seeing this pic I have emailed customer.services@tesco.co.uk to ask when they will implement a re-design of their external lighting. A viral campaign would seem in order.

Tesco have had an agreement with the Campaign for Dark Skies not to contribute to light pollution.
This agreement was established in 1992 with Bob Mizon, leader of the Campaign for Dark Skies, the CfDS.
Where light pollution and TESCO are concerned "every little helps" (to make light pollution worse).
