Properly sited halogen floodlight
I'm not a great fan of halogen floodlights. They use a lot of power, and are often misdirected leading to poor lighting of the desired area, and lots of wasted light in other areas. However, if you're going to use one, then this is the way it should be done. Mount it high and point it down. That way the area you want lit is covered, but no light floods into neighbouring gardens.
