Kirton To Boughton - unnecessary streetlighting

All these lights to illuminate section of road that has a good footpath and only a couple of farm field entrances.

Some would call this a waste of money. But at least while walking along the footpath at night you can easily read!

This stretch of road is part of the A6075, just East of Ollerton, Notts. These new bright lights were erected in 2008. There is a little used footpath on the right (north) side only.
The only 'junctions' are a couple of farm field entrances.

Surely removing the left (south side) set of lights would still give good illumination to the footpath and save a few tonnes of coal/carbon dioxide annually?
