Mexborough town centre

There are many Globe lights sited throughout Mexborough town centre; these are on John Street. They may look pretty by day but fail to promote safety at night - unlike modern cut-off luminaries which direct their light where it’s needed - on the ground.

They are also energy inefficient due to the fact that 50% of the light emitted goes straight up where it serves no useful purpose other than heat up the air above.

Note day-burning lights generating additional carbon dioxide emissions. So much for Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council and its commitment to Energy Efficiency!
