| Welcome to the Light Pollution Image Library website. There are 85 images in the library and 70 visitors comments about them. Light pollution and energy waste caused by badly designed, badly used, or simply unnecessary lighting, is a growing problem. In the UK alone, £100m+ of energy is wasted into the night sky each year due to poorly designed streetlights. Overpowered and badly aimed domestic floodlights, and unnecessary business lighting are increasingly adding to the problem. The purpose of this site is to illustrate examples of bad and good lighting, and hopefully through gentle 'naming and shaming' pressure to encourage individuals, businesses, and organisations to use their lighting more sensitively and considerately. View some Success Stories. Albums covering themes such as Residential Lighting - Bad and Business Lighting - Good' can be selected using the drop-down menu at the top left of the page. Alternatively, you can use thesearch facility at the top right of the page. If you have any good photographs illustrating light pollution problems in your area, or have a photo and story about a positive light usage experience, you can add this to the site using the form at the bottom of this page. Just enough light. Only where it's needed. Only when it's needed. |
