A-4 Skyhawk

This aircraft (N437FS) is based at Wittmund AB (Germany) and is used for towing targets which can be mounted under the left wing station. During the flight the target (Dart) will be released an pulled on a 500 Meter long wire. Fighter aircraft can practice air-to-air cannon shooting on the target. The aircraft is civil and owned by BAe Flight Systems.

The Douglas A-4 Skyhawk was built in the 1950s, first flight date 22 June 1954. The first A-4AS (initially named A4D-1S) entered US service in October 1956.
The aircraft proved pretty popular with a few other countries using them: Argentina, Australia, Israel, Kuwait, Malaysia, New Zealand and Singapore.
